This is my first post in my new blog on android apps. Personally I find android application design and coding really enticing. I started learning a few months ago, usually through workshops, summer schools and YouTube videos. Anyways, android application development and design is not extremely hard to understand once you get the hang of it. God has sent Android Studio as a savior to android developers. The software is so helpful, hands-on and easy to learn and provides all the features needed for the full-fledged development of android apps.
I feel that the User Interface is one of the most important components of an application as all users notice it before other features. Deciding the user interface of particular application is also one of the hardest tasks in app development. Many times we just don't seem to get any good ideas regarding the color theme, background theme, animations, splash screens and material design. I am facing the same indecision, as I can't seem to get a good theme layout, color choice and background design.
Narrowing the discussion to today's main topic, the background of an app plays a large role in the user's perception of it. A good background can increase the users' understand-ability and experience in using the application whereas a unsuitable background image can reduce the user understanding and user experience. Moreover, the primary color and accent color of your application should support the background of the application.
I will provide two examples of background images in mobile applications:
1. GOOD:
As you can see, the background image is a bit blurry. This allows the users to focus on the content of the application and also enjoy the image without getting distracted.
2. NOT RECOMMENDED:
Besides the screen looking completely cluttered and utterly distasteful, I could not help but notice the background. The color chosen is not suitable as it is dark and attention grabbing. Moreover, the application widgets do not match the background of the page. So choosing a light color which supports the widgets of your app.
